Scripts for the questions that arrive without warning.
The question comes from a well-meaning adult in a grocery line. My child is seven. They should not have to pick a side to make the adult comfortable.
The script I use now is simple: we do not do halves. We do whole people. If you want the longer version, that is what the parents’ circle is for — not the produce aisle.
